I have had a lot of success lately with moving forward. I finally got around to looking further into the Lujan/Pardue part of my family. There are over 10 people who have already done the Pardue research for me (not to mention Pardue was a wealthy, Caucasian family and have better records) and I have traced most of them back to the 1400s in England!!! Let me say, there was so much to follow that after making connection after connection after connection all day, I had to finally take a break and rest.I'm still not done following the trail on that side yet.
On the other side of my family, I was able to FINALLY figure out where Francisca Lopez Arvizu and Lupe Arvizu Avila were buried.
Lupe Avila is buried at Greenlawn Memorial Park - Sunrise - Space 2 - Lot B - Block 2
3700 River Blvd.
Bakersfield
Kern County California USA
Postal Code: 93305
Phone: (661) 324-9701
Francisca Lopez Arvizu is buried at Palomares Cemetery
2401 N. Towne Ave.
Pomona
Los Angeles County
California USA
Postal Code: 91767
There is no information on her location since the cemetery is no longer open. There is no office to call and the only way I found it was because someone at the Pomona Genealogical Society of Pomona listed all the "visible" headstones from that cemetery on FindAGrave.com.
I plan to take a trip out there and have a look around. Hopefully its not locked up, I'll need a lot of time to search each and every stone till I find hers. That is if it is still there. A lot of cemeteries that old are converted into parks these days...and I have a feeling this is what has happened to this cemetery. I will be contacting the Pomona Historical Society from my work email (Lynelle@whittiermuseum.org) to ask about this cemetery. Maybe they'll give me more info when they see I work for the Whittier Historical Society. It's like a fraternity or something ;-)
Until next time....

Thats awesome that you were able to trace back to the 1400s! Let me know when you take the trip down there and maybe I can go with you!
ReplyDeleteI would like to go to Bakerfield to visit the woman that molded and shaped my father into the best father ever and tell her thank you!!! When we going???
ReplyDeleteI can hardly wait until you find Andres Avila!! You had said you were getting close. Did you get my message on Grandma Josie's siblings?? Love you Mija, keep up the good work. Auntie Carole
ReplyDeleteAll I would like to know is why my dads dad left him when he was 3 years old. Only if he knew that my dad became a great father, that left a legacy. He always wanted us to have what he didn't, a loving father that worked hard and cared for his family Thank you Lynelle for all your time and effort. Just wish my dad was able to know all this info.
